The Arizona Caliente women's football team has released their full roster for the upcoming 2001-2002 Season. The Caliente had been conducting player tryouts throughout the summer months while the players had the opportunity to meet twice a week for conditioning and drill work.

The last of the new player tryouts was held the weekend of August 18th & 19th, and due to such a level of interest and talent, many of the potential players were invited back to condition with the already existing squad during the weeks that followed.

The group of players was then narrowed down to approximately 60 women that were invited to join the Arizona Caliente as they began their Pre-Season practices on September 15th. They anticipate having a 40 man active roster going into game time, with 10 players on reserve.

"It's always hard when you have to cut players that have as much heart as all of the women who went out for the team this year," said Head Coach Gerry Turley. "I think we were all pleasantly surprised at the level of talent that came from these women who had mostly never played any organized full-contact football before."

The Caliente Owner and General Manager Jennifer Cada noted, "We have been fortunate to have the quality of women tryout for the team that we have. They have been both talented and dedicated, and I want to thank all those who participated in this year's tryouts. I think the women have a better idea of who we are and the type of athlete we are looking for, and I am hoping to see a lot of those who may not have made the team this year, look to train and come out again next season."
