ARIZONA CALIENTE NAMES GENERAL MANAGER (June 1st, 2001)

PHOENIX – (June 1st, 2001) The Arizona Caliente announced that Jennifer Cada has been named General Manager. The Arizona Caliente is Arizona’s premier women’s professional football team that will play in the Pacific Conference of the Women’s American Football League (WAFL). Ms. Cada comes from a background as a college athlete having played Division I Basketball for Hofstra University in New York. She is currently the Associate Publisher/Director of Marketing for Horizon Media in Phoenix, as well as a licensed Real Estate Agent. Ms. Cada has been involved with athletics locally as a volunteer for the Grand Canyon State Games.
"I am proud to be a part of this exciting new venture in women’s sports," said Cada. "It’s really all about giving women the opportunity to play professional football, and that time in Arizona has come."

"We have already had an overwhelming amount of support, and are looking forward to being an active part of the community. We anticipate being a very family-friendly sporting event, hosting regular kids-clinics and highlighting our youth ticket program which provides free admission to those 12 and under."

The team has conducted a preliminary round of tryouts, and is currently in its pre-practice conditioning stage. The Arizona team in its start-up phase is currently looking for team sponsors and is in negotiations for both radio and T.V. coverage.

The Inaugural Season kickoff is scheduled for November 3rd, 2001 with games being played on Saturdays. The season’s schedule is set be announced August 1st. The Arizona Caliente team will be actively fundraising and making public appearances throughout the upcoming months.
